Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced National Payroll Manager to lead and manage our payroll operations across Australia.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of payroll specialists, implementing and improving payroll systems, policies, and procedures, addressing and resolving payroll-related queries or issues, liaising with HR and Finance teams, developing open communication with internal stakeholders, ensuring compliance with statutory reporting obligations, and fostering a fun and supportive team environment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of payroll specialists, providing guidance, training, and support.
  • Implement and improve payroll systems, policies, and procedures to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Address and resolve payroll-related queries or issues raised by employees or other teams.
  • Liaise with HR and Finance teams to ensure integration of payroll data with employee records and financial systems.
  • Develop and maintain open communication and good working relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory reporting obligations, such as PAYG, STP, Fair Work, superannuation, and payroll tax.
  • Foster a fun, inclusive, and supportive team environment aligned with company values.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in payroll management, preferably in a national or multi-state organization within the community or disability sectors.
  • Adept experience with systems integration, payroll transitions, and complicated payroll projects.
  • Good judgment and problem-solving ability, capable of understanding the impact of decision-making on the business.
  • High level of computer literacy, with experience in Microsoft Office and data management systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly in dealing with sensitive information.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
