Payroll Compliance Specialist for Fashion Retail

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Compliance Lead to join our dynamic team at Munro Footwear Group. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all statutory regulations, governance requirements, and internal controls.
In this critical role, you will work closely with our payroll operations team to monitor governance and compliance controls, identify areas for improvement, and implement changes to enhance efficiency and user experience.
The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of payroll concepts, accounting fundamentals, and relevant legislation, including Long Service Leave, Worker's Compensation, PAYG, Payroll Tax, and Superannuation Guarantee.
Your Key Responsibilities- Compliance and Governance: Ensure timely completion of statutory obligations, including ATO and State Revenue Office requirements.
- Payroll Audits: Conduct regular T&A and Payroll audits to ensure compliance with applicable awards, business rules, and Fair Work/ATO regulations.
- Project Work: Collaborate on key projects, including Award compliance review and remediation, T&A optimisation, and HRIS implementation and maintenance.
- Risk Management: Uphold governance, risk, and compliance standards, ensuring all tasks align with regulatory requirements and internal audit protocols.
- Tertiary education in Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Certificate or Diploma in Accounting or Payroll.
- Thorough knowledge of payroll concepts, accounting fundamentals, and relevant legislation.
- Sound understanding of the General Retail Industry Award 2020 and preferred exposure to other industry awards.
- High sense of urgency balanced with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
