About the team

Every business faces a financial reporting or accounting issue at some point when preparing their financial reports. In these situations, expert advice underpinned by an in-depth understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is crucial.

Our specialised team is focused on the provision of technical advice to existing and new BDO clients, providing technical support to Partners and professional staff around financial reporting. As the IFRS accounting standards and Australian Accounting Standards continue to change and challenge the industry, our team is expanding and continuing to uncover new opportunities and new ways to assist clients.

Current opportunity

As a Manager, you'll provide a range of advice and value to key stakeholders. Specifically, this role is responsible for providing accounting technical advice to clients and the provision of technical support in financial reporting.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide technical accounting support to audit and other client-facing engagement teams as required.
  • Reviewing and assisting with financial statement disclosures.
  • Provision of specialist technical advice on the application of IFRS and Australian Accounting Standards to clients in relation to complex transactions.
  • Working with clients to prepare high quality financial statements.
  • Implementing services of new accounting standards.
  • Prepare and deliver client accounting seminars and training as required.
  • Research into and development of responses to changes in IFRS accounting standards.
  • Assist with the growth of the IFRS Advisory team through the development of a suitable professional profile and other marketing and business development activities.

What you'll need to succeed

Our ideal candidate is passionate and enthusiastic for accounting and finance function matters and comes from a consulting/professional services. You'll be joining a hard-working and diverse team who are highly motivated and very good at what they do.

Your Experience and Education:

  • Strong interest and knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Australian Accounting Standards (AASB).
  • Sound knowledge in carbon accounting and/or sustainability reporting would be highly advantageous.
  • Genuine interest in ESG or a strong desire to work in Sustainability & Decarbonisation Strategy engagements.
  • Experience in analysing accounting issues and presenting viable solutions.
  • Strong client and stakeholder focus.
  • CA or CPA qualifications would be well regarded.
  • Clear and effective communication skills and well-developed interpersonal skills.
