We're looking for a Sales Engineer to contribute to our company’s rapid and sustainable growth. As a Sales Engineer, you're responsible for serving as a technical resource and ensuring the proficiency of certified installers in Smappee's solutions, as well as resolving technical issues promptly. You will provide training to new installers, foster relationships with exisitng ones and, support the local team in aligning technical solutions with customer needs.

 

Responsibilities 

Product Support: 

  • You are the main technical resource for certified installers, and distributors offering guidance and assistance for complex installations, integrations, or troubleshooting scenarios. 
  • You ensure that installers have a deep understanding of the technical aspects of Smappee's solutions, including system configuration, integration with existing infrastructure, and troubleshooting techniques. 
  • You conduct thorough analysis and diagnosis of technical problems, escalating complex issues to the appropriate internal teams, such as engineering or product development. 
  • You collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure prompt resolution of issues and maintain high levels of satisfaction. 
  • You create and maintain knowledge in our helpcentre so that knowledge is further shared with installers and end customers. 
  • You maintain a comprehensive knowledge of Smappee's products, features, and compatibility with different systems to assist customers effectively. 
  • You assist with product certification requirements and identifying upcoming rules/standards.  
  • You are able to travel to site when required to commission, test and repair Smappee systems.  

Technical Sales Support: 

  • You foster strong relationships with certified installers and wholesalers, providing ongoing support, training updates, and product knowledge sharing. 
  • You collaborate with the sales team to understand customer requirements and provide technical solutions that align with their needs. 
  • You demonstrate the value and capabilities of Smappee's products to potential customers through technical presentations, demonstrations, and consultations. 
  • You collaborate with the sales team to identify opportunities for certified installers to contribute to sales efforts and provide post-sales support to customers. 
  • You provide technical demo sessions to potential customers and partners regarding Smappee's functionality.  
  • Organise training for new Installers who want to become Smappee Certified.  
  • Manage the Smappee Certification program in Australia.

Requirements

  • You have at least 3 years of hands-on experience in the field, providing service and technical reports for electronic or electrical units. While a bachelor's degree (or equivalent background) in a relevant technical field, such as electrical engineering or a related discipline, is valued, we place a strong emphasis on proven practical expertise.
  • Certification in the Electrical Competence Programme or equivalent qualifications, as well as certification as an electrician, will be considered a plus.
  • You have a strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand complex technical concepts and articulate them in a clear and concise manner to both technical and non-technical audiences. 
  • You have a customer-focused mindset with a passion for delivering exceptional service and building long-term relationships. 
  • You have analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively, both remotely and in-person. 
  • You have the ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • Familiarity with energy monitoring, smart home devices, or renewable energy technologies is a plus. 
  • Understanding commercial electrical systems is a plus.  
  • You are willing to travel for face-to-face training, customer visits, trade shows, and industry events. 
  • You hold a valid Australian Driver's License. 
  • You have full-time working rights in Australia
