Job Description

  • Compile, review and submit of quotes and tender proposals in accordance with company guidelines and sound commercial practice
  • Negotiate and review contracts in accordance company guidelines
  • Report sales and pipeline prospects and bid progress
  • Liaise with the Sales and Marketing Staff to understand customer requirements, promote Marine and Infrastructure products, and provide sales support
  • Continuous development of customer relationships relevant to the Marine Fenders business
  • Create personal travel plans in line with current and future sales opportunities, customer relationships and strategic goals
  • Attend industry functions and trade shows to network and maintain business industry presence
  • Develop existing accounts and prospective accounts to ensure the conversion of profitable business opportunities
  • Develop high level concept designs and engineered solutions to meet the customer and industry specific needs
  • Developing and maintaining accurate CRM files of leads, opportunities, and customers
  • Manufacturing processes and product knowledge
  • Implementation of Sales Excellence processes and maintenance of Sales Excellence data input
  • Remain informed of industry trends and news
  • Represent the company in a professional manner
  • Seek continual self improvement

Ultimately the Technical Sales Engineer has complete responsibility for all aspects of the sales process

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate for the Technical Sales Engineer role should possess a strong engineering background, ideally with a graduate degree in Mechanical, Structural, or Civil Engineering. They should have 3-10 years of experience in project engineering or consultative sales, demonstrating a proven track record of driving sales and managing customer relationships.

Key attributes include excellent persuasion, negotiation, and communication skills, allowing them to effectively engage with clients at various organisational levels. The candidate should exhibit strong problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking, coupled with a solid understanding of engineering principles and project management.

A familiarity with ISO 9001 standards and steel manufacturing processes is highly desirable. Additionally, the candidate should be proactive, demonstrating initiative and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Strong interpersonal skills are essential for developing and maintaining customer relationships and for collaborating with internal teams. The ability to create tailored solutions and high-level concept designs will be crucial in addressing customer needs.

The candidate must also be willing to travel, with the flexibility to visit clients interstate and internationally as required. A customer service orientation and a passion for excellence will ensure that they represent the company effectively and contribute positively to its strategic goals.
