We're seeking an exceptional Cyber Underwriter - Strategic Risk Manager to join our team in Melbourne, Hybrid Working. As a key member of our underwriting team, you'll play a crucial role in delivering a profitable 'Underwriting' service to clients.

In this exciting opportunity, you'll be responsible for:

  • Underwriting Excellence: Reviewing complex submissions, calculating risk premiums, and ensuring profitability while considering risk costs, reinsurance cessions, and underwriting/administration costs.
  • Client Relationships: Proactively advising, assisting, servicing, and following up with clients on insurance and risk management matters to ensure satisfaction and fulfillment of their insurance requirements.
  • Reinsurance Expertise: Determining appropriate reinsurance for risk placements both on excess of loss and quota share basis, in coordination with other internal teams.
  • Financial Acumen: Monitoring financial exposure within outlined limits and premium income to ensure it remains within set limits.
  • Claims Support: Maintaining awareness of all claims advised while supporting and providing input on settlement of claims.

You'll work collaboratively in a team environment, assisting underwriters, underwriting assistants, and the management team. As a Cyber Underwriter - Strategic Risk Manager, you'll report to the Underwriting Manager.

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • Bachelor's Degree: In a relevant class of business or equivalent experience.
  • Discretion and Judgment: Performing tasks according to established procedures with the ability to exercise discretion and use judgment to identify and solve day-to-day problems.
  • Marketing and Sales: Effectively planning for sales and business development, integrating various techniques, tools, and information to support profitable business growth over a defined period.
  • Negotiation and Sales: Planning, structuring, and conducting negotiations with brokers and/or clients to reach outcomes that gain the support and acceptance of all parties.
  • Analytical Skills: Visualizing, gathering information, articulating, analyzing, and solving complex problems to make key business decisions.
  • Interpersonal Savvy: Building excellent interpersonal relationships with brokers, clients, and colleagues to improve your personal profile and reputation within AXA XL and the broader market.
  • Strategy and Planning: Making underwriting decisions to fulfill business strategic plans and deliver results, with knowledge of financial targets and levers to deliver on departmental business plans.
  • Industry Knowledge: Understanding the insurance industry and specific product portfolios to positively impact the underwriting business by improving your technical and functional knowledge.
