About the Role
We are seeking an Underwriter, Cyber to join our team at AXA XL. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled underwriter to work with our clients and help us deliver top-class service across all our lines of business.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and assess complex submissions, including applications, policy wording, inspection reports, loss runs, and financial reports to determine the degree of risk for each account.
- Calculate risk premiums by considering risk costs, reinsurance cessions, and underwriting and general administration costs to ensure profitability.
- Provide expert advice, assistance, and service to clients on insurance and risk management matters to ensure satisfaction and fulfillment of their insurance requirements.
- BUILD and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients to initiate opportunities for cross-selling and ensure account retention.
- Determine appropriate reinsurance for risk placements in coordination with other internal teams.
- Support the business planning and forecasting process, monitor financial exposure within outlined limits, and ensure premium income remains within set limits.
- Maintain awareness of all claims advised and provide input on settlement of claims.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree preferred and equivalent experience in the relevant class of business.
- Ability to perform tasks according to established procedures and exercise discretion.
- Judgment to identify and solve day-to-day problems in straightforward situations.
- Marketing skills to plan for sales and business development.
- Negotiation and sales skills to plan, structure, and conduct negotiations with brokers and/or clients.
- Analytical skills to visualize, gather information, articulate, analyze, and solve complex problems.
- Interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with brokers, clients, and colleagues.
- Strategy and planning skills to make underwriting decisions that fulfill business strategic plans.
- Industry knowledge to positively impact the underwriting business.
