The Role of Commercial Manager—Sales Performance and Planning

The Commercial Manager—Sales Performance and Planning plays a pivotal role in enhancing the profitability and efficiency of Sales and Distribution portfolios. This position involves portfolio optimization, managing client financial and underwriting inquiries, and engaging with various stakeholders. Key responsibilities include formulating strategic sales initiatives, analyzing performance metrics, ensuring operational effectiveness, and promoting a culture focused on planning. Furthermore, the Commercial Manager collaborates with the strategic delivery team to synchronize technological projects with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and leverage sales, distribution, product, and new business opportunities to foster growth for Cover-More Australia.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies that align with corporate goals in the travel insurance industry.
  • Collaborate closely with the Australian Leadership team, Account Directors, and Digital Managers to implement strategic growth and commercial initiatives.
  • Work with senior management to establish sales targets, define key performance indicators (KPIs), and enhance performance outcomes.
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to uncover growth opportunities and guide strategic planning.
  • Prepare, evaluate, and analyze sales reports, profit and loss statements, and forecasts to assess performance and inform commercial decisions.
  • Streamline sales operations by identifying improvement areas and applying best practices to boost efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Utilize technological solutions to enhance sales and commercial operations.
  • Collaborate with the Strategic Delivery team to prioritize and align commercial projects with business goals.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams, including digital, marketing, product development, and operations, to ensure a unified approach to sales and distribution.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Actuarial Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in sales planning, operations, performance analysis, and portfolio management within the financial services sector, preferably in insurance.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities, with a proven track record of developing and executing successful growth strategies.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of influencing and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Experience collaborating with IT teams and effectively managing technological initiatives.
  • Strong operational management capabilities, including process optimization and efficiency enhancement.
  • Ability to cultivate effective relationships to achieve objectives and support team development.
  • Robust commercial acumen, with the capacity to analyze data to identify risks and opportunities for informed decision-making.
  • Proven experience in stakeholder management and the ability to influence others effectively.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills to drive performance and nurture a positive team environment.
