The Role Overview

The Commercial Manager—Sales Performance and Planning plays a pivotal role in enhancing the profitability and effectiveness of our Sales and Distribution portfolios. Key responsibilities include portfolio optimization, managing client financial and underwriting inquiries, and engaging with various stakeholders. This position requires the development of strategic sales initiatives, performance data analysis, operational efficiency, and promoting a culture centered on planning. The Commercial Manager will also collaborate with the strategic delivery team to ensure that technological advancements align with our business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and leverage sales, distribution, product, and new business opportunities to foster growth for Cover-More Australia.
  • Formulate and execute comprehensive sales strategies that align with the company's objectives in the travel insurance domain.
  • Collaborate closely with the Australian Leadership team, Account Directors, and Digital Managers to implement strategic growth and commercial initiatives.
  • Work with senior management to establish sales targets, define key performance indicators (KPIs), and drive performance enhancements.
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to uncover growth opportunities and inform strategic planning.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze sales reports, profit and loss statements, and forecasts to evaluate performance and support commercial decision-making.
  • Streamline sales operations by identifying improvement areas and implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Utilize technology solutions to support and advance sales and commercial functions.
  • Collaborate with the Strategic Delivery team to prioritize and align commercial initiatives with overarching business goals.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams, including digital, marketing, product development, and operations, to ensure a unified approach to sales and distribution.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Actuarial Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in sales planning, operations, performance analysis, and portfolio management within the financial services sector, preferably in insurance.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities, with a proven track record of developing and executing successful growth strategies.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of influencing and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working with IT teams and a proven ability to prioritize and manage technological initiatives effectively.
  • Strong operational management skills, with a focus on process improvement and efficiency enhancement.
  • Ability to build effective relationships to achieve desired outcomes and promote team development.
  • Commercial acumen, with the capability to analyze data to identify risks and opportunities and make informed decisions.
  • Proven experience in stakeholder management and the ability to influence others effectively.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills to drive performance and cultivate a positive team environment.
