About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled IT Application Developer to join our team at the State of Washington. As a key member of our technology team, you will be responsible for developing, enhancing, and maintaining web applications and databases to support the agency's mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement technical solutions to meet business requirements
  • Collaborate with project managers, business analysts, and other IT resources to ensure technical solutions align with business objectives
  • Coding, system impact analysis, technical documentation, and application testing
  • Provide production support, troubleshoot issues, and create reports for data-driven decision-making
  • Participate in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and security testing
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or closely related field and two years of IT experience developing systems using service-oriented design and development
  • OR Associate's degree in computer science or closely related field and four years of IT experience developing systems using service-oriented design and development
  • OR A combination of education and/or relevant IT experience totaling six (6) years of IT experience developing systems using service-oriented design and development
  • Four (4) years of experience performing the full application life cycle activities of industry standard application life cycle methodology (Scrum, Kanban, Waterfall, etc.) and testing as part of the SDLC
  • Experience in software management and work item management using Azure Repos Team Foundation Server, Visual Studio/Azure Dev Ops, and/or Git Hub
  • Experience reviewing and developing technical documents related to application development, maintenance, and adhering to set goals and schedules
  • Communication skills – clearly communicate and understand information based on the knowledge of the audience
  • Workload management skills – Work efficiently, remain focused, and handle interruptions effectively
  • Systems security skills – knowledge of system security issues
  • Research skills – collect, synthesize, and evaluate information
  • Customer service skills – build and maintain customer relations and satisfaction
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification in.NET or SQL server related technologies (e.g., Microsoft MCST, MCSA, Oracle OCP)
  • Experience in Entity Framework, HTML5, or developing SQL/SSIS/SSRS/SSAS servers
  • Versioning control tool such as GIT, ADO, etc.
  • Experience in Dynamics CRM
Additional Requirements
  • Must be able to pass an Unemployment Insurance (UI) Claim & Benefit Information Review
  • May require frequent and/or occasional travel to field offices within the state, and/or occasional travel for meetings and/or training
