About the role
The Payroll Officer will be responsible for accurately processing and maintaining payroll records for our staff, ensuring we meet legislative requirements and comply with relevant Awards and Agreements. This is a permanent, full-time position based at our head office in St Leonards, with some flexibility to work from home.
Key Responsibilities
- Timely compilation and distribution of pay for approximately 1,000 staff members
- Respond to payroll-related enquiries in a professional and timely manner
- Collaborate with the Payroll Accountant to produce accurate and timely fortnightly and monthly payroll reports
- Provide ad-hoc reports as requested
- Issue statements of service as needed
- Stay up-to-date with legislative changes regarding payment and taxation of wages/salaries
- Contribute to ensuring compliance with PAYG tax, Superannuation Guarantee, and salary sacrifice requirements
- Maintain payroll compliance with relevant Award and Agreement determinations
- Process new employee records in a timely and accurate manner
- Ensure accurate leave balances are reflected
- Overpayment recovery and documentation
- Ensure employee electronic pay files are up-to-date
- Collaborate with team members to deliver a high-quality service to staff
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with external suppliers, including Frontier Software, Kronos, and Advantage Salary Packaging
About You
- A commitment to engaging with HammondCare's Christian Mission, Motivation, and Mission in Action
- A tertiary degree in finance or a related field is highly regarded, or significant industry experience is preferred
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in high-volume payroll processing
- Strong administrative and MS Office skills
- Proficiency in computerised payroll and time and attendance systems, specifically ICHRIS
- Ability to work independently and as part of a large team
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- High attention to detail and accurate data entry
