About the Role
The Payroll Officer plays a crucial role in maintaining accurate and up-to-date payroll records for our staff while ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and Award determinations.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and maintain payroll records for approximately 1,000 staff members on a fortnightly basis
- Respond to payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner
- Produce accurate and timely fortnightly and monthly payroll reports in collaboration with the Payroll Accountant
- Prepare ad-hoc reports as requested by management
- Provide statements of service as required
- Stay up-to-date with legislative changes regarding the payment and taxation of wages/salaries
- Contribute to ensuring HammondCare meets legislative requirements through the deduction and remittance of PAYG tax, Superannuation Guarantee, and other payroll deductions
- Maintain payroll compliance with relevant Award determinations
- Process new employee records in a timely and accurate manner
- Ensure employee leave balances reflect up-to-date information
- Oversee overpayment recovery actions and documentation
- Ensure employee electronic pay files are up-to-date to support payroll system data
- Collaborate with team members to deliver a professional service to staff
- Maintain good relationships with external suppliers, including Frontier Software, Kronos, and Advantage Salary Packaging
About You
- Alignment with HammondCare's Christian Mission, Motivation, and Mission in Action
- Tertiary degree in finance, accounting, or related field (or significant industry experience)
- Minimum 3 years' experience in high-volume payroll processing
- Strong administrative and MS Office skills
- Proficiency in computerized payroll and time attendance systems (ICHRIS essential)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a large team
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- High level of attention to detail and accurate data entry
- Empathy and patience
