**About the role**
Collaborate within our vibrant and growing finance team to leverage your passion for numbers and support a national health business, dedicated to making a positive difference to some of the most vulnerable people in our community.
As a Junior Payroll Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting our payroll operations under the guidance of our Payroll Manager. While your primary focus will be on providing accurate, timely and efficient payroll services for the organisation’s employees, you will also assist with various accounting tasks as needed.
**Key Roles and Responsibilities**
This position is ideal for an organized, detail-oriented individual who is eager to develop their skills in payroll and accounting within a supportive and dynamic team environment.
- Payroll Processing: Assist in the timely and accurate processing of payroll for circa 400 employees, including the calculation of wages, overtime, and deductions.
- Data Management: Maintain accurate payroll records and manage legislated payments such as paid parental leave, workers compensation, PAYG, and superannuation.
- Compliance: Assist in ensuring payroll operations comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies. Stay updated on changes in payroll legislation and standards.
- Reporting: Support the Payroll Manager in generating payroll reports for management review, including pay as you go reporting and related compliance on a weekly basis.
- Queries Handling: Serve as a point of contact for employee payroll queries, resolving issues promptly and accurately.
- Accounts Assistance: Provide support with various accounting tasks, including reconciliations, preparing invoices, and assisting with financial audits as needed.
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the enhancement of payroll processes and systems to increase efficiency and accuracy.
**To be successful you will have**:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in finance, accounting, or related field is preferred.
- Basic understanding of payroll practices and regulations in Australia.
- Working knowledge of the NES and award interpretation.
- Proficiency in payroll software and MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Aurion is highly preferred but not essential.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a can-do attitude.
- Previous experience in end-to-end payroll or accounting roles is advantageous but not essential.
