Stripe, a financial infrastructure platform for businesses, is seeking an APAC Compliance Expert to join their team. With millions of companies using Stripe to accept payments and grow their revenue, this role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the global economy.

The Team

As a key member of Stripe's compliance team, you will work closely with the Head of Regulatory Compliance for APAC to build and maintain a robust regulatory compliance program in the APAC markets. You will handle a wide variety of compliance-related matters, including existing regulated products and new launches, collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure Stripe complies with its regulatory and licensing/registration obligations in Australia and New Zealand.

Your Responsibilities

  • Create, manage, and maintain compliance policies, procedures, registers, and trackers to meet all regulatory requirements.
  • Provide clear guidance to regulatory obligation owners, helping them understand and implement controls that meet local regulators' standards.
  • Review policies and procedures to ensure Stripe's controls and processes demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements, identifying gaps and working with stakeholders to address them.
  • Conduct risk impact and control adequacy assessments, preparing regular performance reports for Senior Management and the Board of Directors.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all regulatory compliance matters, building relationships with regulators and external stakeholders in the payments industry.
  • Represent Stripe and engage directly with financial regulators to clarify regulations and issues affecting Stripe's business/products.
  • Monitor the regulatory landscape, preparing Stripe for compliance with new requirements or product launches.
  • Attend industry meetings, consolidating feedback from internal stakeholders for discussion at these meetings.
  • Prepare accurate regulatory reports and submissions, coordinating with relevant stakeholders.
  • Plan and prepare internal stakeholders for external audits or regulatory inspections/examinations, monitoring remediation of any issues raised.
  • Provide training to staff, Senior Management, and the Board of Directors on local regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate actively with business teams on new business proposals and discussions, ensuring compliance with local regulations.

Your Profile

We're looking for an experienced compliance professional with a strong background in the payments/fintech industry and relevant legislations in Australia and New Zealand. You should have:

  • A bachelor's degree or higher.
  • Minimum 5-8 years combined relevant compliance experience in payments companies, banking institutions, financial regulators, law firms, and/or audit firms.
  • A good knowledge of the Treasury's consultation on Payments System Modernisation (Regulation of Payment Service Providers) and related proposals.
  • Independent worker skills, analytical abilities, and the capacity to make sound compliance/regulatory decisions.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Experience interacting directly with financial regulators in Australia and New Zealand.
