Indigenous Community Engagement Specialist Role

RMIT University is a leading Australian institution that offers this exciting opportunity as an Indigenous Community Engagement Specialist. The successful candidate will work closely with the Office of Education and Engagement to develop, implement, and manage outreach and engagement programs within the Ngarara Willim Centre.

This role requires building strong relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and peoples by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. Occasional travel in Victoria and interstate may be required.

To succeed in this position, you will need:

  • A deep understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and organisations;
  • Knowledge of the Higher Education sector and experience advising and supporting community members to pursue their educational aspirations;
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to enhance and connect them with opportunities;
  • Project management skills with the ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities and deadlines;
  • Cultural sensitivity and professional boundaries with the ability to handle sensitive matters professionally;
  • The ability to analyse data, identify issues, recommend actions, and write reports on Indigenous student outcomes;
  • Collaborative team environment skills.

This role requires a tertiary qualification in a relevant field or equivalent level of expertise in providing support services to tertiary students. A Working with Children check must be maintained for appointment to this position.
