The Senior Advisor, Indigenous Access and Engagement plays a crucial role in leading the entry and admissions processes within our university to support the access of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to RMIT. This position requires strong leadership and strategic direction to ensure that our reconciliation and engagement efforts are effective.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of strategies to increase access and engagement with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and maintain relationships that support the goals of the position.
  • Provide advice and guidance to students, staff, and other stakeholders on matters related to Indigenous access and engagement.
  • Manage competing priorities and deadlines to deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with the Academic Registrars Group to ensure that access and engagement initiatives are aligned with university objectives.
Requirements
  • A degree and/or postgraduate degree in a relevant field or extensive relevant experience working with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and an understanding of community needs, particularly the educational and personal support needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
  • Excellent administrative skills, including accurate and efficient record keeping and use of ICT packages.
  • Experience in project management, with the ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively and build rapport with staff, students, and the community.
