About the Role:

RMIT University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to fill the role of Senior Indigenous Engagement Professional. This position will play a key part in driving our ambition to create a culturally safe environment for all students, staff, and community members.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will provide high-level strategic advice and leadership to develop and implement initiatives related to the engagement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, students, and partners. They will work collaboratively across RMIT to support whole-of-university efforts to embed sustainable reconciliation and build relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous staff, students, and community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the cultural capability of College of VE staff
  • Provide high-level strategic advice and leadership to drive Indigenous-led approaches to College of VE's strategic directions
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to co-design and implement initiatives that promote Indigenous student success
  • Build strong connections with Indigenous communities and organisations to drive mutually beneficial outcomes

Requirements:

  • Degree and/or qualifications in a relevant field (e.g., Indigenous studies, education, or social sciences)
  • Significant experience working in Indigenous affairs, preferably within an educational setting
  • Strong understanding of systemic barriers and challenges faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
  • Proven project management skills and ability to drive change within complex environments
  • Ability to represent RMIT externally and engage with diverse stakeholder groups
