About the Role

Australia is undergoing a transformative period in its Energy industry. AEMO's National Electricity Market (NEM) Real Time Operations team has an exciting opportunity as a Power System Operations Controller at our Norwest and Brisbane offices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a secure and reliable power system under the guidance of the Manager NEM RTO.
  • Perform real-time operational control of the NEM and Interconnected National Electricity System, identifying risks and taking prompt action when necessary.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a 24/7 shift roster.
  • Conduct real-time dispatch, voltage, and security functions for designated regions in accordance with established procedures and standards.
  • Undertake real-time monitoring, analysis, and control of the Interconnected National Electricity System to identify issues or violations.
  • Perform complex computer-based network analysis to determine solutions and take decisive action when required.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities, maintain high levels of organisation, coordination, and communication, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent interpretative and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make timely decisions to resolve complex technical issues based on analysis, wisdom, experience, and practical judgement.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbally and in written form.
