About the Opportunity

Australia's energy sector is undergoing a once-in-a-century transformation, and the Australian Energy Market Operator's National Electricity Market (NEM) Real-Time Operations team has an exciting role as a Power System Operations Controller in our Norwest and Brisbane offices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining a secure and reliable power system by reporting to the Manager NEM RTO and carrying out real-time operational control of the NEM and Interconnected National Electricity System.
  • Identifying risks and taking necessary actions, performing dispatch, voltage, and security functions for designated regions according to established procedures and standards.
  • Undertaking real-time monitoring, analysis, and control of the Interconnected National Electricity System to identify issues or violations, performing complex computer-based network analysis to determine solutions and act accordingly.
  • Taking decisive action following a contingency to ensure the power system remains in a satisfactory operating state and is promptly returned to a secure and reliable operating state.

Requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, maintain organization, coordination, and communication with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent interpretative and problem-solving skills with the ability to make timely decisions to resolve complex technical issues based on analysis, wisdom, experience, and practical judgment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, accurately, and concisely both verbally and in written form.

Salary and Benefits:
