About the role

As a Power System Operations Controller at Australian Energy Market Operator, you will play a critical role in maintaining a secure and reliable power system. You will carry out real-time operational control of the National Electricity Market and Interconnected National Electricity System, identifying risks and acting when necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work as part of a team to maintain a secure and reliable power system
  • Perform real-time dispatch, voltage, and security functions for designated regions of responsibility
  • Monitor, analyze, and control the Interconnected National Electricity System to identify issues or violations
  • Perform complex computer-based network analysis to determine solutions and act when necessary
  • Take decisive action following a contingency to ensure the power system remains in a satisfactory operating state

Requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and maintain high levels of organization, coordination, and communication
  • Excellent interpretative and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make timely decisions to resolve complex technical issues
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, accurately, and concisely both verbally and in written form
