About the Role

At Australian Energy Market Operator, we are at a pivotal moment in the transformation of Australia's energy landscape. Our National Electricity Market (NEM) Real Time Operations (RTO) team is seeking an experienced Power System Operations Controller to join our Norwest and Brisbane offices.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining a secure and reliable power system. Reporting to the Manager NEM RTO, you will be responsible for real-time operational control of the NEM and Interconnected National Electricity System, identifying potential risks and taking decisive action when necessary. Key responsibilities include:
  • Performing real-time dispatch, voltage, and security functions for designated regions in accordance with established procedures and standards.
  • Undertaking real-time monitoring, analysis, and control of the Interconnected National Electricity System to identify issues and violations.
  • Conducting complex computer-based network analysis to determine solutions and act accordingly.

What You Will Bring:
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and maintain a high degree of organisation, coordination, and communication with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent interpretative and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make timely decisions to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbally and in written form.

Salary:$110,000 - $140,000 per annum,
Location:Norwest and Brisbane offices.
