The Disability Support Services Officer will play a crucial role in empowering individuals with disabilities to participate in community activities, develop social connections, and pursue their interests and hobbies. They will support clients in various settings, including recreational activities, educational programs, and vocational opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist clients with disabilities to access the community and engage in social activities
  • Support clients in developing social skills and building meaningful relationships
  • Collaborate with clients, their families, and other stakeholders to create individualized support plans
  • Provide transportation and accompany clients to community outings and appointments
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of clients during community activities
  • Assist clients in developing and maintaining life skills
  • Promote independence and empower clients to make choices
  • Document client progress and report any concerns to relevant team members
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge
  • Adhere to all relevant policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations

This role requires a Certificate III in Individual Support, Disability or a related field (or currently enrolled). Previous experience in similar roles is preferred, along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, and compassion, patience, and respect towards clients.

We offer a competitive remuneration package based on the SCHADS Award - Social & Community Services, with an estimated salary range of $64,000 - $74,000 per annum.
