Job Description

The Catholic Education Office in the Diocese of Wollongong is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Team Leader - Wellbeing and Student Support. This is a senior leadership position within the Improvement, Learning and Wellbeing Service Area, with a specific focus on leading the work of the Wellbeing and Student Support team to build capacity and deliver services and professional expertise to support the system's strategic plan.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the structures and operational processes that enable Education Officers to deliver appropriate support and innovation to drive improvement for students through building the capacity of teachers and school leadership teams.
  • Oversee and lead supports and resourcing for Students with Disability through the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data process.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with external agencies such as CatholicCare and Aspect.
  • Support schools and parents with enrolments and or transitions of students into schools, and other educational settings.
  • Develop, deliver, monitor and evaluate ongoing personal and professional learning formation and growth experiences for school staff and others.
Essential Selection Criteria
  • A deep understanding and commitment to the mission and purpose of a Catholic school within the broader evangelising mission of the Catholic Church.
  • Demonstrates a well-articulated Catholic pedagogy and capacity to align to CEDoW programs, frameworks and policies.
  • Has highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills with a particular capacity to inspire staff, bring about change and work towards achieving the CEDoW strategic goals.
  • Demonstrates an extensive understanding of current and emerging national and state legislation, as well as Diocesan policies and agendas and the application of the strategic intent of Lighting the Way.
  • Has experience within an educational setting with an understanding of supporting students with diverse learning, wellbeing, mental health, behavioural and safety issues.
  • Demonstrates an ability to develop and sustain productive working relationships.
  • Demonstrates competent record keeping skills using HP Manager, Compass, Google Drive.
  • Competencies including ability to: Interpret medical documentation and student's eligibility for NCCD.
  • Well-developed leadership skills to support school leadership teams and staff in change management.
General Capabilities
  • Accredited with NESA to teach in NSW.
  • A minimum of 10 years previous teaching experience.
  • Middle leader school experience or a demonstrated capacity to lead improvement in learning and wellbeing.
  • Tertiary qualifications in one or more of the following: Educational Leadership, Behaviour, Wellbeing/ Pastoral Care, and/or Special Education.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development in Behaviour Wellbeing/ Pastoral Care, and/or Special Education.
  • Capacity to use ICT applications with a high degree of competency.
  • All CEDoW staff are required to obtain the required level of religious accreditation as outlined in Work Teach and Lead. This role requires a maintenance and accreditation Level D.

This role is classified as child-related work and therefore a Working with Children Check (WWCC) is required prior to your employment at CEDoW.
