Job Title: Student Accessibility and Inclusion Specialist

Join the University of Wollongong as a Student Accessibility and Inclusion Specialist and make a meaningful impact on the lives of students with disabilities or medical conditions.

About the Role

This permanent, part-time or full-time appointment (28 - 35 hours per week) offers a competitive salary of $88,865 - $110,039 (pro rata) + 17% superannuation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialised support to students with disabilities or medical conditions, helping them navigate their studies and succeed in higher education.
  • Work with UOW faculties and professional units to deliver personalised adjustments and cohort-based interventions, promoting equitable academic success and inclusive practices.
  • Assess barriers, recommend adjustments, and provide specialist support to students, applying relevant legislation and contemporary knowledge of challenges faced by students with disabilities and equity groups in higher education.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with students, staff, and stakeholders, ensuring a culturally respectful and inclusive environment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., occupational therapy, education, psychology) with at least four years of experience or equivalent.
  • Contemporary knowledge of challenges faced by students with disabilities and equity groups in higher education.
  • Experience assessing barriers, recommending adjustments, providing specialist support, and applying relevant legislation.
  • Strong interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills, with experience in assistive technology and a commitment to culturally respectful and inclusive practices.
