Workplace Safety and Wellbeing Specialist

The Catholic Education Office invites applications for the position of Workplace Safety and Wellbeing Specialist. This role is part of the People and Culture service area and reports to the Team Leader - Workplace Safety and Wellbeing.
The Workplace Safety and Wellbeing team is responsible for designing and delivering a comprehensive workplace safety and wellbeing framework. As a Workplace Safety and Wellbeing Specialist, you will provide expert support and advice to schools and office sites within the Catholic Education Office.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing high-level support and advice in the area of Work Health and Safety
- Developing tools and resources to support Principals and CEO Leaders with their due diligence under the Work Health and Safety legislation
- Keeping up to date with current and emerging WHS matters that impact the education sector
- Analysing WHS data with a focus on providing regular reports for School and Office Leadership
- Undertaking site audits across the Catholic Education Office to verify compliance with Work Health and Safety policies and processes
- Completing internal investigations where a serious/significant work health and safety incident has occurred
- Assisting in formulating and implementing proactive and preventative resources, particularly within the area of psychological hazards impacting staff across the education sector
The successful candidate will have:
- Demonstrated experience in undertaking health and safety audits across multiple sites
- Positive interpersonal skills, including high emotional intelligence
- Excellent discretion and judgement as information handled may contain sensitive or confidential information
- An individual drive and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Demonstrated ability to develop WHS policies, procedures, and other support resources and materials
- High level of accuracy, and attention to detail
Qualifications and Experience:
- Tertiary qualifications - degree qualified preferred - work health and safety, human resources, or other related disciplines
- At least 3-5 years of experience working in the field of health and safety, allied health discipline or human resources
This role is classified as child-related work and therefore we require a working with children clearance to be completed prior to your commencement with us.
