Education Officer

The Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Education Officer to join our team. As an Education Officer - Improvement, Learning and Wellbeing Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting students with diverse learning needs across our diocesan system of schools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with families, external agencies, and stakeholders to support individual case management and the implementation of Positive Behaviours for Learning (PB4L).
- Provide support for schools in the enrolment and transition of students with diverse needs into CEDoW schools and other educational settings.
- Work closely with the Wellbeing and Student Support team and the Improvement, Learning and Wellbeing service area to develop, deliver, monitor, and evaluate ongoing personal and professional learning formation and growth experiences for school staff and others.
Essential Criteria:
- A deep understanding and commitment to the mission and purpose of a Catholic school within the broader evangelising mission of the Catholic Church.
- Highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills with a particular capacity to inspire staff, build teacher collective efficacy, and bring about change that is inspired by the CEDoW strategic goals.
- Demonstrated commitment to work in alignment with the Continuous Catholic School Improvement Framework and engage with an inquiry mindset and professionally partner with colleagues, parents, and the wider school community.
- Capacity to work effectively as part of a dynamic, responsive team, seeking to provide high-quality, differentiated, and tailored support for schools.
- Experience within an educational setting with an understanding of effectively supporting students with diverse learning, wellbeing, mental health, behavioural, and safety issues.
Desirable Criteria:
- Evidence of formal study in the areas of special education and/or social and emotional and/or behavioural support for students.
- Experience as a middle leader or above in a school or educational services setting.
- Demonstrated understanding and/or experience in dealing with complex learning needs of students.
- Demonstrated understanding of CEDoW Diverse Learning Needs Policy and Student Pastoral Care and Wellbeing Policy.
- Experience in the implementation and maintenance of PB4L in a school setting.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Accredited with NESA to teach in NSW.
- Minimum 10 years teaching experience.
- Accredited to Level C in accordance with the To Work, Teach and Lead Policy, or a commitment to gain this level within the first 5 years of employment within CEDoW.
Working with Children Check:
This role is classified as child-related work and therefore a Working with Children Check (WWCC) is required prior to your employment at CEDoW.
