**About the Department**:
The role of the Department of Education is to support Victorians to build prosperous, socially engaged, happy and healthy lives. It does this by supporting lifelong learning and healthy development, strengthening families and helping to equip people with the skills and knowledge for a 21st century economy and society.
**About the Victorian School Building Authority**:
The Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) is part of the Department of Education. Established in 2016, it oversees Victoria's largest school building program since the state introduced free public education in the 1870s.
The VSBA upgrades and expands existing schools and plans, designs and builds new schools to meet enrolment demand. We also support schools to maintain their buildings and grounds by offering expert advice and coordinating maintenance programs and grants.
With Victoria recently introducing two years of funded kindergarten, the VSBA is also working with the early childhood sector on a massive kindergarten construction program.
**About the Division**:
The Asset Management Division helps schools maintain and manage their buildings and grounds and ensures they are more energy efficient. The Division trains school leaders as facilities managers and supports them to develop school maintenance plans. They coordinate programs, assessments, and systems to ensure schools are routinely maintained and cleaned.
The Division includes the Asset Management Branch, School Asset Management Support Branch, Facilities Branch, Maintenance Delivery Branch and the Programs Branch.
**About the Role**:
The Sustainability and Environment Unit (SEU) operates as part of the Asset Management Branch and is charged with implementing VSBA's Greener Government School Buildings program, Solar Inspections program, and Environmental Program across Government schools.
The Asset Management Branch is responsible for developing and supporting a strong asset management system within schools, by the reforming, delivering and implementing new initiatives including environmental sustainability.
SEU also develops and implements improved asset management practices to achieve better sustainable and environmental outcomes within DE school portfolio.
The Project Officer role in the SEU is required to have a high degree of autonomy, be self motivated and driven to provide support on a wide range of services, producing results through collaboration with others, including business related functions covering human resources, data analysis, reporting, support for organisational improvement processes and initiatives, provision of project support, planning and stakeholder engagement within the broad Department, as well as with external sector partners.
The key accountabilities for the Project Officer are to:
- display VPS values while delivering great quality outcomes for clients and understanding stakeholder's underlying needs,
- analyse data and complex concepts, applied to identification of issues and development of workable solutions to drive decision making processes and actions,
- demonstrate resilience to change, with an ability to manage emerging priorities and set high standards in own work performance,
- exercise active willingness to learn, as well as solid spoken and written communication skills in written products, such as correspondence, plans, reports and briefings,
- work comfortably within a team environment, contributing to continuous improvements for delivery through automation and process improvement.
