The Senior Manager, Lean Capability and Transformation is a key leadership position and member of the Business and Service Transformation Leadership team. This role is pivotal in building and implementing the Lean and Service Transformation Centre of Excellence for BT as aligned to BT new ways of working. This role involves leading lean transformation projects, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and enhancing lean capabilities throughout all levels of the company. The individual will work closely with senior leadership, cross-functional teams, and other stakeholders to drive operational excellence, improve efficiency, and achieve significant cost savings.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support Head of Business and Service Transformation to build and implement a Lean Centre of Excellence, including the build, roll out and maintenance of all business transformation, operational excellence and Lean practices, methodology and collateral for BT. 
  • Establish and roll out Lean capability program across BT, partnering with Group Learning and Development to continuously uplift the continuous improvement capability and culture for BT. 
  • Lead cross functional teams or streams to manage BT wide end to end transformation initiatives, from diagnostic, design through to implementation, including governance and reporting of respective initiative, with the aim to improve advisers and customers experience, growth, and efficiency. 
  • Lead, mentor and coach lean practitioners and continuous improvement professionals.
  • Lean strategy development

What do I need?

To be successful in this role, you must be a self-starter who is confident in management stakeholders from every level of the business. You should be experienced in not just delivery but creation and consultation of lean capabilities. You will be a strong leader who is strategic thinker with exceptional planning and management skills. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, operations, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in leading large cross functional process improvement, lean transformation, or operational excellence roles.
  • 5+ years’ experience in building and rolling out lean capability, culture and centre of excellence
  • Proven experience leading large-scale lean transformation initiatives across multiple business units.
  • Certification in Lean, Six Sigma (Black Belt preferred), design thinking & customer centered design or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of lean tools and techniques (e.g., Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, 5S, A3, DMAIC).
  • Experience in change management, including stakeholder engagement and communication strategies.
