The Local, Clayton Bay (located in regional SA) is seeking an experienced Chef/Cook who can bring creativity, consistency, and a wow factor to the dining experience for our customers, be a team player, work independently, and manage the kitchen staff.

About you:

  • Formal trade qualifications in cooking, or equivalent experience, with food safety certifications
  • You're an experienced Sous Chef looking to step right up.
  • Be a key team player, keeping the connection between the kitchen and front of house flowing with good vibes and great food every time
  • You've got the experience, confidence, and pride to own the kitchen and make it shine, treating the kitchen like it's your own, keeping it running smoothly, safely, and profitably.

Your Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Primarily responsible for overseeing the kitchen operation of the business and coordinating the work of kitchen staff.
  • Collaborate with the owners in designing seasonal menus, introducing special themed menus that incorporate international cuisines. Must be familiar with different culinary methods, products, and techniques.
  • Full-time availability including weekdays and weekends.
  • Create and deliver food people talk about and want to keep coming back for.
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene and health & safety at all times.
  • Be responsible for excellent food preparation, cooking, and presenting dishes, being conscientious of waste control whilst delivering 100% customer satisfaction.
  • Follow all business operational kitchen processes and procedures, achieving all required standards.
  • Check freshness of food and ingredients.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of cooks and other food preparation workers.
  • Inspect supplies, equipment, and work areas for cleanliness and functionality.
  • Order and maintain inventory of food and supplies, and review food purchases.

Salary: $76,000 – $80,000 plus super
