In the role of Junior Estimator, you will:

  • Assist in analysing tender documentation to prepare accurate Statements of Work (SOW) and Bills of Quantities (BOQ).
  • Conduct detailed take-offs and assist in preparing comprehensive tender estimates.
  • Support senior estimators by gathering and organising project information to ensure all elements are considered in estimates.
  • Help in preparing methodologies and programmes for tender submissions as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of complete tender submissions.
  • Support the team by helping to source and negotiate quotes to secure the best prices and value.
  • Maintain strong client relationships by providing excellent customer service, including proactively calling clients to follow up on quotes and tender submissions.
  • Follow internal processes to enhance a positive and productive team environment.
  • Maintain organised files and comprehensive project documentation.
  • Work with senior estimators and the Bid Manager, maintaining transparency and precision throughout the tender process.
  • Meet deadlines and adhere to planned schedules, ensuring key weekly milestones are achieved.
  • Assist with other ad-hoc tasks as required.

This is a developmental role where you will be provided with 
training and mentorship
 from senior staff to grow into a full estimator role.

Knowledge and Skills

  • A relevant formal qualification (e.g., Certificate IV in Building and Construction, diploma, or degree in a related field) or sufficient trade background is preferred.
  • Foundational understanding of the construction or painting industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
  • Strong administration and measurement skills, with high attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and familiarity with Planswift or similar estimating programs.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and a team-oriented mindset.
  • A Driver's License and White Card are advantageous.
