Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Larsen Group Full time $60,000 - $90,000 per year

Role Description:

The Assistant Project Manager supports the planning, coordination, and execution of projects from initiation to completion. Working closely with the Project Manager and cross-functional teams, this role ensures that all project activities are delivered on time, within scope, and in alignment with organizational objectives. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and proactive, with strong communication and problem-solving skills to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities include assisting in project planning, scheduling, and resource coordination; monitoring project progress; and preparing reports, documentation, and presentations for stakeholders. You will help track budgets, manage timelines, coordinate meetings, and ensure all deliverables meet quality and compliance standards. The Assistant Project Manager also facilitates communication between internal teams, external vendors, and clients to ensure alignment and timely resolution of project issues.

This role involves maintaining project documentation, updating risk and issue logs, and supporting change management and quality assurance processes. You will also contribute to process improvement initiatives, helping to identify opportunities for greater efficiency, collaboration, and accountability within project execution.

The Assistant Project Manager provides essential support to project leadership, gaining exposure to all stages of project management — from initial concept through implementation and delivery. This position is an excellent opportunity for professionals who aspire to develop their careers in project management, operations, or business strategy within a structured and dynamic environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and project management software such as MS Project, Asana, Smartsheet, or Trello.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with attention to accuracy and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address potential issues early.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to assist in project budgeting, reporting, and performance tracking.
  • Strong sense of accountability, initiative, and willingness to take ownership of assigned tasks.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and maintain composure under pressure.
  • Professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to continuous learning and development.
