Role Description

The Assistant Project Manager supports the successful planning, coordination, and execution of projects from initiation to completion. This position plays an essential role in ensuring that all project activities are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with organizational goals. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and proactive, with strong communication and problem-solving skills to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities include assisting the Project Manager with project scheduling, progress tracking, and reporting. The Assistant Project Manager will help develop project plans, define deliverables, and monitor milestones to ensure alignment with deadlines and quality standards. They will coordinate meetings, prepare documentation, and facilitate communication among cross-functional teams, contractors, and stakeholders to maintain transparency and accountability throughout each project phase.

The role also involves supporting project budgeting, procurement, and risk management activities. The Assistant Project Manager may assist in reviewing contracts, managing vendor relationships, and tracking expenditures to ensure adherence to project budgets. They will also contribute to process improvement initiatives, identify potential risks or bottlenecks, and propose effective solutions to maintain smooth project execution.

Additionally, this position supports post-project evaluation, compiling reports on lessons learned, performance metrics, and recommendations for future improvement. The Assistant Project Manager acts as a vital link between the project team and senior management, helping to ensure that resources are efficiently utilized and objectives are achieved.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in project management, engineering, business administration, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for effective collaboration with diverse teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and project management software (Asana, Trello, Jira, or Microsoft Project).
  • Basic understanding of project management methodologies such as Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid.
  • Ability to analyze project data, prepare progress reports, and identify key performance trends.
  • Strong problem-solving, time management, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to adapt to dynamic project requirements and work under tight deadlines.
  • Certification in project management (CAPM, PMP, or PRINCE2) is an advantage but not required.
