The Role
The Town of Port Hedland is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented information governance professional to join our team, reporting directly to the Senior Records & Information Officer.
In this pivotal role, you'll lead the coordination of the Town's response to the Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing Act 2024. This role supports privacy and information sharing functions and drive the implementation of robust governance frameworks. You'll manage key artefacts such as Privacy Impact Assessments and data flow maps, maintain the Information Asset Register, and embed classification policies across core systems. Your work will also include developing privacy-by-design practices, standardising data sharing agreements, and delivering training to improve organisational capability.
We're looking for someone with:
- Demonstrated experience in privacy, data protection, or information governance within the public sector (experience in local, state or federal government is desirable)
- Strong working knowledge of the WA PRIS Act 2024, State Records Act 2000, and relevant standards
- Proven ability to manage Information Asset Registers and conduct PIAs/DPIAs
- Excellent facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills, with a knack for translating policy into practical processes
- A relevant qualification in information management, law, or governance-or equivalent experience

Work Related Requirements
The preferred applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol assessment to be considered for the role, as well as possess:
- Relevant Degree qualification (e.g., information management, law, records/information governance) or equivalent experience
- Working knowledge of WA PRIS Act 2024, State Records Act 2000, FOI Act 1992 and relevant standards (e.g., ISO 27001/27701, ISO 15489)
- Current 'C' Class Drivers Licence Current 'C' class driver's license
- Rights to work in Australia
