The Role
Are you passionate about genuine community engagement and creating opportunities for local voices to be heard?
The Town of Port Hedland is seeking a dedicated Community Engagement Officer (FTC ending September 2026) to support the development and delivery of inclusive engagement strategies that reflect the needs and aspirations of our community.
In this role, you'll design and implement consultation activities, support community-led initiatives, and help build strong partnerships with local organisations, businesses, and government agencies. You'll also contribute to the delivery of community programs, support the promotion and assessment of Town grants, and ensure community feedback informs decision-making across the organisation.
Our ideal candidate brings experience in engagement best practices, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to empowering community participation in local decision-making.

Work Related Requirements
The preferred applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol assessment to be considered for the role, as well as possess:
- Tertiary qualifications in community engagement, communications, marketing, social science or community development, or a related area. IAP2 training will be considered favorably.
- National Police Clearance
- Current 'C' class driver's license
- Rights to work in Australia
