About the role

We are seeking a skilled and adaptable professional who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. In this role, you will combine sales expertise with event planning skills to deliver outstanding experiences for our meetings and events customers. You will work closely with clients and industry partners, as well as internal teams to bring events to life from initial enquiry through to seamless delivery. With a proven ability to manage complex details, build strong relationships, and deliver multi-faceted events, you will play a key role in exceeding customer expectations while contributing to MCEC's sales and revenue targets.

About You

As our Sales Executive, you are confident, knowledgeable, and passionate about end-to-end sales and event planning. Achieving revenue targets comes naturally to you, and you consistently foster positive and productive relationships with clients. You thrive in a collaborative team environment and are eager to develop your skills in a role that encompasses both sales and planning.

Your exceptional communication skills (both written and verbal), outstanding organizational abilities, and keen attention to detail make you an invaluable asset. You demonstrate resilience under pressure, maintaining composure and focus in busy or challenging situations. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to enhance your expertise in sales and planning while making a meaningful contribution to our Meetings and Events team.

What you're here to do

  • Prepare, present, and follow up on event proposals.
  • Proactively drive sales, meeting revenue targets, and managing corporate, association, and government accounts.
  • Coordinate site inspections with clients, stakeholders, and industry partners.
  • Discuss and plan event requirements, including technology needs with clients.
  • Prepare event orders, floor plans, and other essential information for event execution.
  • Brief operational teams for each event.
  • Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and on time, maintaining detailed records in our systems (EFS).

We are also looking for:

  • Tertiary qualifications in tourism, hospitality, business, or a related field (preferred).
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven track record in understanding, collaborating, and meeting customer expectations.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Understanding of event planning and event technology.
  • Advanced computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
