Lawsons Auctioneers is one of Australia's most respected and longest-established auction houses, operating since 1884. Based in Leichhardt Sydney, Lawsons specialises in fine art, antiques, decorative arts, jewellery and collectables with weekly auctions selling to a wide network of buyers and sellers.
We are seeking an Auction Cataloguing Administrator to join our expert team. This is a rare opportunity to combine your knowledge and passion for fine art with your administration skills in a fast-paced, highly respected auction environment.
The Role
As Auction Cataloguing Administrator, you will play a vital role in the successful presentation of our fine art auctions. You will be responsible for:
- Researching, cataloguing, and accurately describing artworks for auction.
- Liaising with specialists, clients, and consignors to ensure accurate information and seamless auction preparation including condition reports.
- Managing data entry into our auction database and ensuring all details are correct.
- Providing administrative and logistical support throughout the auction cycle.
About You
We are looking for an individual with both art expertise and administrative excellence. The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor's Degree in Fine Art or Art History (Master's preferred) or equivalent professional experience in the arts.
- Proven experience in the art world – whether in galleries, museums, or auction houses.
- Proficiency in MS Office 365 and a readiness to learn new database systems.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Impeccable client service and the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritise, and meet deadlines under pressure.
