**The Role**
Being a large contracting organization Explosive Materiel Branch (EMB) has an obligation to verify WHS aspects within its own activities and contracted work. Your role will involve the planning, conduct and management of WHS verification activities across EMB business units, and their suppliers.
Once this program is established and operating effectively, the role has room to develop to include wider WHS assurance activities including plant, radiation, noise and hazardous chemical compliance program. This will be in line with your skills and ability.
Travel including interstate will be required, particularity whilst establishing the system and stakeholder relationships. The role may be completed from any Defence location, however it is preferably based in Canberra, Western Sydney, Garden Island West, or RAAF Amberley.
**About our Team**
EMB is responsible for the acquisition and sustainment of explosive ordnance for the Australian Defence Force (ADF). This includes everything from bullets through to complex guided weapons. Work completed includes engineering, contract and supplier verifications, and compliance with national and international regulations.
We also complete in house, high-risk work, through the maintenance of missiles, torpedoes, and sea mines.
As part of the business management office, the EMB WHS team is a geographically dispersed team who supports the branch and its workers to provide a safe place of work and safe equipment to the ADF. We do this by assuring our activities align to the CASG safety management system CASsafe.
This is detail driven work that offers a high degree of flexibility and autonomy with the planning and delivery of outcomes.
