**The Role**
The APS5 Information and Records Management Officer reports to the APS 6 Information and Records Management Officer in the GPAR Records Management Team. As part of the records management team, you will provide detailed information and records management functions & advice for SEG including advice, audits & assurance tasks, contribute to strategic planning & programs and drive innovative change in support of SEG business outcomes. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills are essential and the ability to think outside the box to find innovative solutions.

Some of the key duties of this role are:

- Manage information and records management activities in accordance with relevant legislation and Defence policies and procedures.
- Take the initiative to develop and implement information and records management procedures to achieve continuous improvement.
- Conduct compliance monitoring and reporting activities for systems and practices.
- Create and foster functioning networks and relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure advice to personnel and manage the priorities and needs to achieve outcomes.
- Have a demonstrated understanding and background in Records Management including file and repository management.

**About our Team**
The Directorate of Governance Performance Analytics and Reporting (DGPAR) in the Program Management & Governance branch, Service Delivery Division (SDD), Security and Estate Group is responsible for providing the SDD Executive with business intelligence insights to inform strategic decisions relating to the program and its contracts performance. GPAR is primarily based in Campbell Park with team members also located on bases across various locations.

To succeed in this role, applicants will be required to demonstrate:

- Subject matter expertise on records management activities and security principles.
- Well-developed knowledge of Defence Records Authorities, and the ability to clearly communicate and educate information managers in appropriate sentencing, archiving and destruction of Defence records.
- Work within legislation, policy and procedures.
- Excellent judgement, problem solving skills and initiative.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small, high performing team.
- Ability to handle highly sensitive information in accordance with government security requirements.
- Detailed understanding of Defence Objective structures, and expertise to design processes, tools and structures to increase, and improve the use of correct records management processes across the SEG group.
- Application and understanding of structured and unstructured repositories of records, including physical, digital and mixed-mode Objective files, to promote and manage compliance with legislative obligations, whole-of-Government policies and better records management practice.
