**The Opportunity**
This is an exciting opportunity for to join Transgrid’s commercial arm LUMEA. Our Infrastructure and Energy Services team are looking for two experienced and self-motivated individuals to join the team as a Connections Technical Specialist. This role will be responsible for providing assistance to the Senior Connections Manager to facilitate the connection of new infrastructure projects by assessing the technical, regulatory requirements and compliance of new connections to the NSW transmission networks.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
As a Connections Technical Specialist you will:
- Develop connection strategies that meet customer’s requirements from a technical perspective
- Support the LUMEA team in the preparation and negotiation of prescribed offers to connect
- Evaluate customer requirements from a high level technical perspective and assess feasibility
- Lead investigations, studies and find solutions for customers with support from planning, project development/feasibility and engineering teams
- Develop, monitor and maintain an efficient grid connection process to meet customer and compliance requirements
- Develop customer reports and correspondence as required
- Engage with regulatory authorities as required in co-ordination with the Network Planning and Operations team and the wider business
- Forecast new connection demands, including timing, scope, delivery resource and capital requirements with a 36-month outlook ensuring a whole of business familiarity with the schedule of new connections
**Skills & Experience**
What we expect from you:
- Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering preferred (but not essential) and extensive industry knowledge and experience
- Substantial experienced gained in the transmission, distribution or electricity generation industries
- Demonstrated commercial, contract management skills and experience
- Extensive experience in negotiating and delivering network connections
- Familiarity with the NER, NEM, AEMO and AEMC requirements and functions
- Ability to collaborate and engage with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to project manage customer requirements and requests
Desirable:
- Familiarity with system planning, modelling studies and integration of new system generation and loads
- Understanding of substation and lines construction including estimate duration and costs
- Familiarity with integration of non-scheduled and renewable energy generation to large scale grids
