Pacific is seeking an experienced **Technical Manager (Networks & Connections) **to join our technical team and support the growing energy team. This role will be critical to enable Pacific to successfully develop and deliver projects within its portfolio of quality transmission and storage assets.

The key focus of the **Technical Manager (Networks & Connections) **will be to manage and deliver all technical aspects required for development and successful delivery of Pacific’s transmission assets. This will include managing network planning, solution development and generator integration activities at all stages of the project lifecycle, including commissioning and energisation. This opportunity will draw on your experience working within a Network Service Provider (NSP), connecting and operating assets within the NEM.

The initial assigned project will be a NEM-connected transmission network infrastructure project with further opportunities for large-scale transmission and generation assets. The Technical Manager (Networks & Connections) will be responsible for developing and coordinating the technical strategy and solution for transmission network infrastructure including overseeing the network planning, modelling, connections, system strength, interface management, design innovation, commissioning and energisation.

This role will work closely with the commercial and finance workstreams, the D&C / EPC and O&M contractors, and the development team responsible for asset acquisitions and opportunity identification, transferring important lessons learnt in project delivery into due-diligence processes, and assisting the team generally in this work when required.

**Located in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne the role will**:

- Manage all aspects of network planning and concept design for development-phase assets, including
- Prepare and manage technical solution development process, including network planning, modelling, connection and interface approach
- Manage consultants to perform solution development, network planning, system studies and generator compliance studies
- Provide technical input into key project contracts in late-stage development such as grid connection agreements and EPC contracts
- Form strong relationships with NSPs and AEMO and pro-actively identify and resolve issues
- Manage consultants to budgets and overall project programs
- Manage all aspects of grid connection for delivery-phase assets
- Engage and manage consultants to deliver grid studies for R0, R1, R2 submissions, overseeing this work to ensure it is performed to a high standard and in line with project programs
- Pro-actively identify and manage all technical issues during project delivery, identifying and procuring specialist technical support where required
- Form strong relationships with EPC contractor’s design leads and coordinate their input into grid studies and connections processes
- Support EPC contractor’s commissioning teams throughout commissioning
- Report to senior management regularly and on any risks which may significantly change the project’s risk profile, business case or delivery timeframes
- Develop relationships with CIMIC OpCos (including CPB and UGL) to effectively support the development and delivery of projects
- Develop relationships with OEMs, NSPs, AEMO and other key stakeholders
- Identify resource and skill gaps within the technical team and develop strategies to bridge the gaps
- Manage and mentor junior technical personnel
- Keep abreast of important developments in the industry and keep the wider team informed of upcoming projects, emerging trends, and regulatory changes
- Support development and delivery phase internal governance activities and processes

**Our minimum requirements for this role are**:

- Working knowledge of the processes and the technical requirements prescribed under the National Electricity Rules,
- Experience (ideally 5+ years) working knowledge of AEMO guidelines and requirements for DMAT, benchmarking, compliance studies and commissioning
