**The Role**
The APS 6 Environmental Manager provides specialist support and policy advice to Fleet Command.
The role manages the development and implementation of environmental management systems within Defence by identifying, solving and alleviating environmental issues, such as pollution and waste treatment, in compliance with environmental legislation and policy.
The role promotes, raises awareness and trains staff at all levels on environmental issues and responsibilities.
**About our Team**
Fleet Command is responsible to Chief of Navy for Plan Pelorus Outcome One. That is to provide maritime forces for current operations, exercises, engagements and future contingencies. This supports Navy’s Mission to prepare naval power in order to enable the joint force in peace and war.
In addition to being involved in building and sustaining Australia’s naval fleet, you will also have access to attractive working conditions as an Australian Public Servant in Defence. You can access a variety of flexible working arrangements, including part-time work, occasionally working from home and working hours that aren’t always nine to five.
