**The Role**
Reporting to the Senior Air Force Heritage Collections Manager Directorate (SAFHCM), History and Heritage - Air Force, the Collections Management Department APS 6 Curator is a leadership role overseeing the delivery of a diverse range of responsibilities which include, but may not be limited to the development and facilitation of departmental directives to achieve organisational objectives.

**About our Team**
We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated APS 6 Curator to support the Senior Air Force Heritage Collections Manager Directorate (SAFHCM), Collections Department, History and Heritage - Air Force (HH-AF). The SAFHCM operates to the HH-AF mission to collect, study, preserve and manage records and artefacts from the Australian Flying Corps through to today’s Air Force, to enhance capability and reputation, while meeting stakeholder expectations.

Managing the Air Force Heritage Collection (the Collection), the SAFHCM provides specialist curatorial and collections guidance for the management of the Collection held across the HH-AF national network. Engaging with other Government agencies, HH-AF Directorates, external organisations and individuals, including serving and ex-serving personnel and their families, the SAFHCM contributes to the management of the Air Force History and Heritage Program in support of Air Force.

Working with a small team and under limited direction, the Curator will provide accurate and specialist advice through their proven expertise and technical knowledge in the collections management arena. The incumbent is expected to undertake and contribute to complex collections management related duties within set timeframes, working towards History and Heritage - Air Force (HH-AF) goals, within Directorate policies and guidelines.
- Have a relevant tertiary qualification and/or substantial proven experience in the same or similar role in a cultural collecting institution.
- Have proven knowledge of and experience in the principles and practices of collection management that supports coordination of strategic priorities with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Be highly proficient in effective communication and interpersonal skills for cross-directorate communication, including well-developed oral and written skills, and a demonstrated ability to build relationships within a multi-disciplinary organisation.
- Have excellent time management, self-management and experience in managing multiple projects with competing priorities and deadlines.
- Exhibit excellent attention to detail with proven understanding of the role of governance as well as ethical considerations of collection management and curatorial activities.
- Have proven experience in managing diverse demands and activities, some of a repetitive nature, as well as being able to lead planning, development and risk management in the collection management arena.
- Demonstrated relevant supervisory capability and the ability to assist or share information to the benefit of peers and Directorate personnel.
- Demonstrated experience with current information and communication technology (ICT) with the capability to administer relevant collection management systems or digital asset management databases.
- Hold a current Australian driver’s license, with the understanding that operating outside normal working hours may be required.
- Be capable to work on site and within the range of HH-AF facilities.
