Transform Lives as a Youth AOD Case Manager

At Mission Australia, we're committed to creating a society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. As a Youth AOD Case Manager, you'll play a vital role in supporting young people experiencing alcohol and other drug use and homelessness.

About the Role

As a key member of our SHIFT team, you'll work directly with young individuals facing AOD and co-occurring issues, offering tailored counselling and case coordination that empowers them to set their own goals and pace of engagement. With no set limits on the length of engagement, you'll have the opportunity to truly connect and support young people on their journey to recovery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct assessments, intake processes, and complete necessary paperwork and data entry for allocated individuals.
  • Provide AOD counselling sessions using best practice approaches and theories.
  • Develop holistic, strength-based support plans in collaboration with young people.
  • Make referrals and collaborate with specialist support services to help young people achieve their goals.
  • Facilitate educational groups and service information sessions as needed.
  • Maintain professional, up-to-date client records and perform other administrative duties to ensure the efficient operation of the service.
Requirements for Success

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • A Degree or Diploma in Social Welfare/Social Science/Youth Work or similar and a minimum of two years' experience in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge and application of child and adolescent development and child and youth safe practices.
  • Well-developed communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to tailor communication appropriate to the audience.
  • Ability to provide outreach engagement and support with young people experiencing risk factors in their life.
  • Highly competent administration and report-writing ability.
  • A Full driver's licence with no restrictions.
