About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Youth and Young Adult Transition Liaison/Program Specialist 3. This role is a critical part of our efforts to ensure that Washington state's children and youth grow up safe and healthy, thriving physically, emotionally, and academically, nurtured by family and community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with DCYF-involved youth, community service providers, DCYF field operations, Juvenile Rehabilitation, and other government agencies to promote opportunities for youth to have a developmentally appropriate pathway to access supports and services needed to thrive as they transition out of state-funded systems of care.
  • Provide direct services to system-involved, transition-aged youth and young adults, including partnering with youth and young adults to navigate, engage, and connect with state systems of care.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for transition-aged youth support services and resources in their identified service areas.
  • Act as a youth advocate and liaison between the youth and young adults, DCYF workers, and community service providers for awareness of service needs and issues related to the provision of support and services to transitioning youth and young adults.
  • Provide consultation and education to DCYF workers to improve outcomes for young people, with a focus on reinforcing resilience through protective and promotive factors.
  • Collaborate and consult with caseworkers, supervisors, transition planning meeting facilitators, and reentry team meeting staff to troubleshoot complex cases, analyze process effectiveness, and recommend solutions.
  • Collaborate on developing local practice protocols for the transition meeting process and align those protocols with state policies and procedures.
  • Provide support and training to the child welfare field operations and JR operations around coordinating, tracking, and facilitating transition meetings.
  • Produce professional written materials related to Shared Planning meetings, Transition Staffing, and Reentry Team Meetings within policy guidelines.
Requirements
  • Equivalent education and experience totaling six (6) years, including planning, policy analysis, coordination, and consultation with a variety of public and private agencies, organizations, and/or levels of government.
  • Associate degree and four (4) years of experience, including planning, policy analysis, coordination, and consultation with a variety of public and private agencies, organizations, and/or levels of government.
  • Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of experience, including planning, policy analysis, coordination, and consultation with a variety of public and private agencies, organizations, and/or levels of government.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of child-welfare, juvenile justice, and the disproportionate impact of those systems on Black, Indigenous, People of Color, LGBTQ+ youth, and youth with developmental or physical disabilities.
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of adolescent development, the tools and supports needed to effectively launch adolescents into adulthood.
  • Previous experience working in and with diverse and historically underserved communities.
  • Previous experience serving as a representative in a program that supports equity, diversity, and inclusion, social services, including education, employment, and training, health, or behavioral health services in the community.
