OverviewThis is an exciting opportunity to join Holcim, a global leader in innovative and sustainable building solutions, as a Chief Health and Safety Officer. In this critical role, you will be responsible for driving the integration of an acquired business into Holcim's standards, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
Salary and BenefitsWe are offering a competitive salary package, including a base salary of $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus additional benefits such as a TOT vehicle and 12-month contract with possible extension.
Job DescriptionKey Responsibilities:
- Facilitate and model a safety leadership style that demonstrates our priority for health and safety and underpins our drive to zero harm.
- Maintain a working knowledge of relevant safety and health legislation, trends, and new initiatives impacting on the business.
- Undertake site audits against Holcim Australia safety systems and other appropriate standards.
- Monitor, measure, track, and report on corrective actions from risk assessments, investigations, and audits.
- Identify opportunities to simplify safety systems and processes without compromising our zero-harm goal.
- Assist and support line management with safety incident investigations, including determination and tracking of correct and preventative measures.
- Assist and support line management in identifying, assessing, controlling, and reviewing health and safety hazards.
Requirements:
- A relevant qualification and/or a commensurate level of experience and willingness to gain appropriate qualifications.
- Previous experience in a safety leadership role within high-risk environments e.g. quarrying, mining, oil & gas, heavy industrial manufacturing or related sectors is preferred.
- Relevant experience in conducting safety inspections, audits, leading incident investigations, and reporting safety-related matters.
- Current knowledge of OH&S legislation and practices.
- Familiarity with the use of Health & Safety record-keeping systems.
- Demonstrated ability to drive and promote a zero-harm culture.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, and with all functions.
- Intermediate proficiency in Google suite preferred.
