About this role

We are seeking a Senior Health and Safety Professional to lead the integration of an acquired business and bring it up to our standard following an agreed due diligence plan.

  • As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for completing the integration of the acquired business and bringing it up to our standard.
  • You will contribute to the development of line management and supervisor health & safety capability, including the concept of visible felt leadership and ensuring safety and health systems and processes are understood and implemented effectively by the line.
  • You will also support strategic plan initiatives at an operational level and provide a consultancy, coaching and support service to managers and supervisors on safety and health matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitating and modelling a safety leadership style that demonstrates our priority for health and safety and underpins our drive to zero harm.
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of relevant safety and health legislation, trends and new initiatives impacting on the business.
  • Undertaking site audits, as scheduled by the compliance, investigation and reporting function, against our safety systems and other appropriate standards.
  • Monitoring, measuring, tracking and reporting on and closing out of corrective actions from risk assessments, investigations and audits.
  • Identification of opportunities to simplify safety systems and processes without compromising our zero harm goal.
  • Assisting and supporting line management with safety incident investigations, including the determination and tracking of correct and preventative measures.
  • Assisting and supporting line management in identifying, assessing, controlling and reviewing health and safety hazards.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A relevant qualification and/or a commensurate level of experience and willingness to gain appropriate qualifications.
  • Previous experience in a safety leadership role within high-risk environments, such as quarrying, mining, oil & gas, heavy industrial manufacturing or related sectors is preferred.
  • Relevant experience in conducting safety inspections, audit, leading incident investigations and reporting safety related matters.
  • Current knowledge of OH&S legislation and practices.
  • Familiarity with the use of Health & Safety record keeping systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive and promote a zero-harm culture.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, and with all functions.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Google suite is preferred.

Our Salary Package

We offer a competitive salary package including a TOT vehicle, and a twelve-month contract (possible extension). Our estimated annual salary for this role is $120,000 - $150,000 AUD, depending on location and experience.
