About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Accounting professional to join our team at Davidson. As a key member of our Federal Government client, you will work closely with senior leaders to support high-impact projects related to public sector accounting standards and climate-related disclosures.

This role offers a unique opportunity to develop technical expertise while contributing to the advancement of accounting practices across various areas, including sustainability, climate disclosures, and financial reporting for not-for-profit and superannuation entities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in technical drafting to support the development of Service Performance Reporting principles and requirements, as well as climate-related disclosures for the Australian public sector.
  • Identify necessary adaptations for the application of international standards, such as the IPSASB Exposure Draft and AASB S2 Climate-related Disclosures, within the Australian context.
  • Analyse stakeholder feedback and draft staff papers to inform members on potential modifications to existing standards like AASB 1059 and AASB 18.
  • Support outreach and engagement activities with key stakeholders, including documenting results to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Contribute to benchmarking exercises and prepare educational materials to enhance understanding of financial reporting standards.
About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Manager-level experience in the not-for-profit or Government sector.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Australian NFP sector, including a thorough understanding of Australian Accounting Standards as they apply to NFP entities.
  • Subject matter expertise in applying the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) in the public sector.
  • Subject matter expertise in preparing or auditing financial statements, budget papers, outcomes reporting, and financial information prepared under the Uniform Presentation Framework at the whole-of-government level.
  • Strong analytical skills and a passion for technical drafting.
