About the Role

KPMG Law's Tax Dispute Resolution and Controversy team is seeking a highly skilled and experienced tax professional to join our dynamic and growing team. As a Senior Consultant, you will play a key role in advising clients on complex tax issues and disputes, working closely with our clients and subject matter specialists to develop written and oral advocacy and dispute resolution skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare clients for and resolve disputes with revenue authorities, including complex reviews and audits, objections, briefing counsel, alternative dispute resolution processes, and tax litigation in State and Federal tribunals and courts.
  • Collaborate with clients and subject matter specialists to develop written and oral advocacy and dispute resolution skills, providing legal advice on taxation law and administrative law.
  • Work with a range of clients and subject matter specialists across KPMG and externally to develop expertise in tax dispute resolution and controversy.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative and creative solutions to complex tax issues and disputes.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in corporate tax, international tax, tax law, and/or tax dispute resolution and controversy in a Big 4 professional services firm, law firm, or the Australian Taxation Office.
  • Ability to identify ways to analyse information quickly and efficiently, using innovative and creative solutions to solve problems.
  • Problem-solving skills to address client issues and needs.
  • Ability to build relationships with client contacts and maintain these relationships after work has been completed.
  • Responsibility and accountability for the work and performance of self, recognising the efforts and contributions made by other team members.
  • An ability to motivate and work as part of a high-performing team to achieve outcomes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge-sharing mindset and ability to build a constructive culture by proactively sharing what they know with other KPMG people, teams, and functions.
  • An honest and ethical approach to business, which will provide a natural fit with our values.
  • Australian and/or other Commonwealth country legal experience.

Qualifications:

You must have a Law Degree to be eligible for this role.
