Executive Sous Chef Opportunity

We are seeking an inspirational leader to join our Culinary team at The Star Sydney as an Executive Sous Chef.

About the Role

This is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing food preparation across our properties' Food & Beverage outlets, ensuring quality standards are met. You will lead by example, inspiring a diverse team of culinary professionals, and have an innate ability to drive financial results with a customer-led focus.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee food preparation, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring consistency.
  • Responsible for the efficient operation of culinary operations, including menu preparation.
  • Monitor and oversee the quality of food, ensuring the highest standards are achieved to exceed customers' requirements.
  • Oversee daily food orders and monitor food costs, evaluating techniques to maximise efficiency.
  • Provide direction and support to the team, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
  • Manage employee absenteeism, annual leave, time and attendance, and workers compensation cases.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must be an inspirational leader, innovative, motivating, and an experienced mentor with:

  • Previous experience at an Executive Sous Chef or Chef De Cuisine level within a large team.
  • A proven ability to drive financial results with a customer-led focus.
  • Strong and effective communication skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • An understanding of Food Safety and Food Handling regulations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current food trends.
  • Project Management experience.
