
Property Maintenance Coordinator

Our company is seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor for a busy property located in very remote Tasmania.
We offer accommodation onsite and the opportunity to work in one of the most beautiful parts of the world.
The successful candidate will oversee maintenance personnel and plan various day-to-day maintenance operations, upkeep of onsite systems including the barge and plan/implement repair projects.
This role requires a high level of organization, proactivity and problem solving skills. Basic familiarity with building, electrical and plumbing is essential.
Apart from this, we are looking for someone who can continually ensure the hotel and grounds premises are safe and functional for guests and employees alike.
Main Responsibilities:
- General maintaining of grounds including gardening, gutters, water tanks, pumps etc as required.
- Regularly check and maintain solar power and generator system, fuel levels/systems, septic system, barge operation and water pumps/storage utilising and liaising with compliant tradespersons when required.
- Organising repair, installation and renovation projects in accordance with the property's requirements.
- Liaising with the General Manager to ensure repair and installation works are both approved by the board and are communicated effectively to minimise inconvenience to guests.
- Working with and communicating with other departments including housekeeping, kitchen and marine.
- Operating and maintaining the barge in accordance with the safety management system in place, allocating its daily operation to yourself or other members of the grounds team.
- Managing the grounds team to ensure efficiency in completing tasks.
- Maintain a tidy and organised workshop area where grounds teams can quickly find what they need.
- Maintain the cleanliness and quality of the campground facilities, including toilets and the outdoor BBQ areas.
Performance Goals:
- Complete tasks on time and as reasonably requested by the General Manager.
- Critically viewing the property as a whole to note improvements/new processes/fixes that can be made and implementing these.
- Engage with customers and other employees naturally and professionally at all times.
- Ensure public workspaces and the workshop are clean and presentable at all times.
- Troubleshooting and using initiative and sound judgment to maintain efficiency for all systems.
- Compliance with customer service culture and values.
Requirements and Skills:
- Basic knowledge of building, plumbing and electrical systems.
- Experience using hand held and electrical tools. A chainsaw ticket is highly regarded/recommended.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and drawings.
- Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills, the ability to work well in a team, problem solving aptitude.
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Excel and Word.
- A reasonable level of fitness to be able to complete certain tasks.
- Recreational Boat license and/or Coxswain certificate highly regarded/recommended, but not essential.
- Previous hotel industry experience, and/or familiarity with plumbing/electrical/solar power a plus, but not essential.
